President’s Message By Paloma I. Beamer
Dear Colleagues, Happy New Year!
I am pleased to announce the results of our ISES 2019 Elections. Brian Curwin is our new President-Elect. We have new Board of Director members: Allison Patton (Private Sector Councilor), Donghai Liang (Academic Sector Councilor), Andre Conrad (Government Sector Councilor), and Elizabeth Lin (Student Councilor). We also want to acknowledge Lisa Melnyk who is beginning her term as Treasurer. ISES will be in excellent hands!
I would like to thank our departing members of the Board for the time and dedication they have devoted to ISES. This includes Judy LaKind (Past-President), Tina Fan (Treasurer), Robin Dodson (Private Councilor), Erin Hayes (Academic Councilor), Bert Hakkinen (Government Councilor), and Laura Kwong (Student Councilor).
I would also like to thank all of you – our ISES members – for all the time you volunteer to help ISES and our discipline continue to move forward.
Our strategic plan continues to evolve and our special Task Force is still hard at work. We hope to have a finalized plan to all of you soon.
We are particularly interested in hearing how ISES can better serve our students and new researchers. Please let us know your ideas! As you set forward your goals for this next year, don’t forget to sign up for the mentorship program.
Planning is currently underway for our 2020 Annual Conference to be held September 20-24, 2020 in Oakland, California. Please consider signing up to be on the Technical Organizing Committee and share your thoughts for how to make this conference a success! (https://intlexposurescience.org/meetings/2020-annual-meeting). We are currently accepting proposals for symposia. Submit yours by January 23, 2020.
Keep us posted of all your exciting updates for 2020, so we can include you in member spotlights, and email blasts. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
As always, I encourage members to contact any councilor or committee chair or me (phone 520-626-0006, email email@example.com) to discuss your ideas, suggestions, questions or concerns and let us know how ISES can better serve your needs.
