ISES2021: Multisector Engagement for Addressing Emerging Environmental Exposures

Virtual Meeting Accessibility

Accessibility Policy

ISES is committed to diversity and inclusivity and aims to conduct annual in-person / virtual meetings, host associated events, and provide online materials that are accessible to everyone, regardless of disabilities. These core values are fundamental to the way we operate our Society and support our membership.

Further efforts to improve accessibility are under way and we continue to update our websites and conference logistics to improve accessibility. In the meantime, if the format of any material on our web pages interferes with your ability to access information, please contact us to request assistance. If you have questions or comments about our websites’ accessibility, please email us at info@intlexposurescience.org, including the nature of the issue and any assistive technologies you use.

We also encourage you to reach out to us to learn more about the ongoing efforts to improve accessibility, and how you can get involved.

Questions about meeting accessibility?
If you have any questions regarding virtual meeting accessibility, please contact the ISES Diversity Committee isesdiversity@gmail.com with your question. The committee will take your request to the meeting organizers and determine the next steps.

Presentation Accessibility
Being mindful of inclusiveness, we encourage presenters to check accessibility on their presentation slides. Keep in mind color contrast as well when putting together your slide deck. We also encourage you to consider using subtitles as applicable. For example, if presenting using slides, both Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides have an automatic captioning feature. When you present slides over video conferencing software (such as Zoom), the captions show up on the shared screen. Note: to set expectations for an audience, you may note that captions are from the slide program, not the video conferencing software and that only the speaker’s voice is captioned.

If you have any questions or concerns or are interested in getting involved, please contact us at ISES2021@intlexposurescience.org.
